It is our mission to lift high the name of Jesus with our consistent presence at the Mike Durfee State Prison. We seek to present the Gospel message to the lost of the prison population and provide discipleship to both new and veteran Christians within the prison population.
Jesus is very clear about our responsibility to visit the prisoner (See Matthew 25:36). Prison has long been a place of importance in Christian history, going back to the letters Paul wrote in prison, to the Belgic confession written by Guido De Bres while incarcerated and in more recent times the ministries that were born of Chuck Colsen’s conversion behind bars. In my experience I have found that many individuals that wouldn’t stop for 10 seconds to give Jesus a thought on the “outside” have a change of heart when they find themselves stripped of their independence within a prison. This quote by the formerly incarcerated Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick echoes the testimony of many; "I wanted a chance to redeem myself, "he said. Pre-incarceration it was all about me. When I got to prison, I realized I couldn't do it anymore. The one thing I could rely on was my faith in God." Our desire is to be present in the lives of individuals who come to a place of surrendering to God within the walls of Mike Durfee Prison, as well as offering discipleship for those wanting to grow in their faith.
